Scott graduated from Babson College in 1990 with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies. Starting in the family business as a designer while still in school, he has worked in every facet of the sign industry. Eventually, his commitment to customer service and working with clients led him to a career in sales and to his current position as Sales Manager.

What do you love most about Sign Design?

I love the people I work with, many of whom I’ve known for years. Those relationships make the job so much more fun and rewarding. And being an employee-owner gives me and my co-workers a strong sense of pride and commitment to do our best for our customers.

What made you want to work at Sign Design? What makes you stay?

I came back to Sign Design after a 5-year hiatus to start a career in sales and continue working in the family business. I had left in 1993 to move to Utah with my (then) girlfriend Gwen and pursue my passion for skiing. After an injury, I came back to New England and bounced around from Cape Cod to Western MA doing mostly restaurant and construction work. Shortly after Gwen and I got married in 1998, my brother Ron asked me to join the sales team and I’ve been here ever since. I stay because I love the people I work with, and every day is something different.

Where have you worked prior to Sign Design?

After I graduated from college in 1990, I spent a couple of years working at Bank of New England and State Street Bank before returning to Sign Design, where I had worked on and off during college. When I went out West, I worked mostly in the restaurant and hospitality industry so I could ski during the day. In the summers I was a ranch hand, did some construction, and worked at a golf course.

What other roles have you had at Sign Design?

When we started, there were only a few of us, so I was able to experience just about every facet of the sign business, from order entry to install. Mostly I did design. I still help with install when needed, as long as it’s nothing to tricky.

Do you have any hobbies?

I have been playing guitar since the 6th grade and still play at least a little just about every day. Playing for me is very meditative and no matter what my emotional state, always chills me out.
